The Saskatchewan Flax Development Commission (SaskFlax) is funded through a check-off on sales of flaxseed and flax straw. Since 1996, the commission has worked to develop the flax industry for the benefit of growers. Activities include funding research and promoting flax to domestic and international markets.

The Saskatchewan Food Industry Development Centre Inc. (Food Centre) provides expertise and resources to assist companies in bringing innovations to commercialization. Our expertise includes unique food and process development, interim processing, extrusion technology, food safety training, and path-finding. The Food Centre has established a reputable role in food industry for R&D of new food concepts. Working with world-class agencies in Saskatchewan and around the world, we specialize in novel ingredient development and applications. Specialties include crops, pulses, meats, dairy, fruits and confectionery. Since inception, the Food Centre has developed and processed over 800 products with an estimated 50% introduced into the market. The Food Centre offers clients new market and export access due to our numerous certifications such as: HACCP Approved, Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) approved for meat, dairy and processed foods, FDA approved for processed foods, HALAL, Organic, and NHP licensed. Our two facilities are set up to process a variety of food products destined for world markets.

Description:
The Saskatchewan Forage Council (SFC) was formed as a co-operative in 1988 to enhance the province's forage and grassland industry including production, harvesting, utilization and marketing. The SFC is governed by a 12 member Board of Directors including producers, industry, university and government representatives. The organization is an active leader, participant and partner in province-wide extension and technology transfer activities, provides input to governments on a wide range of industry issues, and is active in industry developments. In addition, the SFC plays an active role in priority setting and forage-related research initiatives.

Description:
The Saskatchewan Forage Seed Development Commission (SFSDC), established in June 2005 with a purpose to develop the forage seed industry in Saskatchewan. The organizations uses a check-off collected by forage seed buyers on all forage seed crops grown in the province, except alfalfa seed. Funds are used to further the development and promotion of forage seed and forage seed products in the domestic and international marketplaces; and conduct and encourage research on production, market development, processing and consumption of forage seed and forage seed products.

Products and services include funding/co-funding basic and applied research programs investigating solutions for production problems, improving new annual, biennial, and perennial forage seed crops adapted to the Saskatchewan environment, and supplying market demand. SFSDC provides administration services for production demonstration trials, transfers knowledge to forage seed growers and industry through our website, newsletters, and magazines mailed to all levy-paying producers, and advises the government on matters pertaining to forage seed research, production, and development.

The Saskatchewan Fruit Growers Association (SFGA) is a voluntary, non-profit organization whose members are interested in developing a strong and vibrant fruit industry in Saskatchewan. SFGA is a grower-directed association dedicated to providing assistance with the production and marketing of premium quality fruits. Saskatchewan Media Production Industry Association (SMPIA) is a provincial, member-based non-profit organization that is governed by a volunteer board of directors. Established in 1985, SMPIA acts as an advocate for all personnel related to the making and exhibiting of film, video and interactive media, from beginners to professionals. Description:
The Saskatchewan Oat Development Commission (SaskOats) was established in 2006 and now represents over 6,000 oat producers. SaskOats works with the Manitoba Oat Growers Association and the Alberta Oat Growers Commission to form the Prairie Oat Growers Association which represents over 10,000 oat growers in Western Canada. SaskOats collects a $.50 per tonne check-off from every tonne of oats grown for sale in Saskatchewan. This money is used towards SaskOats' primary objectives including oat research, market development, advocacy, building industry partnerships and communication with oat growers, consumers, the oat industry and government. Certifications include: Gluten Free and Heart Healthy.
